Assistant Principal

Hello! My name is Erika Thompson, and I am honored to join the Southmont Elementary School family as your new Assistant Principal! 

My path in education started in 2015 where I served as a 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classroom teacher at Churchland Elementary and then transitioned to serving as the Media Coordinator, at that same school. 

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education from Catawba College and my Master's degree in Library and Information Science from UNC Greensboro. Currently, I am finishing up my Master of School Administration through UNCG as part of the PPEERS program.

What drives me every day is building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and community members. I truly believe that when students feel valued and supported, amazing things happen!
